The O-ring is an extruded seal. The basic working principle of the extruded seal is to rely on the elastic deformation of the seal to cause contact pressure on the sealing contact surface. If the contact pressure is greater than the internal pressure of the sealed medium, it will not occur. leak, and vice versa.

Use of O-rings O-rings are widely used in various hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, cylindrical surfaces and flange surfaces. For the O-ring used in the process of movement, when the working pressure is greater than 9.8Mpa, if one-way pressure is applied, a retaining ring should be set on the other side of the O-ring in the direction of pressure; Place a retaining ring on each side of the ring. To reduce friction, wedge-type retaining rings can also be used. When the pressure liquid acts from the left, the right retaining ring is pushed up, and the left retaining ring is not in contact with the surface to be sealed, so the friction force is reduced. In general, the use of retaining rings will increase the friction of the sealing device, and the wedge-shaped retaining ring is of great significance to reduce this friction. For the fixed O-ring, when the working pressure is greater than 32Mpa, a retaining ring is also required.

Installation of O-rings The installation quality of O-rings has an important influence on its sealing and service life. Leakage problems are often the result of poor installation. During the installation process, the O-ring is not allowed to be scratched, the position is not installed correctly, and the O-ring is twisted. Before assembly, the sealing groove and sealing mating surface must be strictly cleaned; at the same time, grease is applied to the surface to be passed in the assembly of the O-ring. In order to prevent the O-ring from being cut or scratched by sharp edges such as sharp corners and threads during installation, an introduction angle of 15º to 30º should be reserved at the shaft end and hole end of the installation. When the O-ring needs to pass through the external thread, a special thin-walled metal guide bush should be used to cover the external thread; if the O-ring needs to pass through the hole, the hole should be inverted into a corresponding bevel shape to prevent O The ring is scratched. The bevel angle of the groove is generally a=120º~140º.
